On January 26, 2010, the Aztec, New Mexico City Commission proclaimed Aztec a Relay for Life City. They further proclaimed March 6 through March 13, 2010 as Paint Our Town Purple Week and the month of June as Relay for Life Month. They urge all citizens to recognize, participate, and display their support in this community fight against Cancer.
